World AIDS Day was first observed on 1st December 1988, initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO). It was created to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and show solidarity with people living with the disease.
India Fights AIDS
In India, World AIDS Day is marked by awareness campaigns, health check-up camps, and educational programs led by NACO (National AIDS Control Organisation). Red ribbon symbols, street plays, and rallies are common to promote safe practices and reduce stigma.
